Environmental Noise Measurement Systems

The Cirrus Research CR:245/3 is a self contained Portable Environmental Noise Monitor, designed for short and medium term measurements.
Both periodic environmental groups and recognised noise events are stored, along with a 7 Day Noise Profile (Time History).
The instrument is fully weather protected, and can run for up to 7 days on the internal battery. External power can be connected to
the instrument to extend the operation. The standard instrument meets the requirements of IEC 60651:1979 and IEC 60804:1985 for a Type 1 instrument, and has PTB Type Approval. A wide range of options and accessories are available, including a GSM Cellular Modem for remote download and an Electrostatic Actuator for automatic calibration.

The Cirrus Research CR:243/4 "Noise Pole" is a unique, high performance noise monitor designed for long term installation in locations and environments where the instrument must be unobtrusive and discrete.

The main features of the CR:243/4 "Noise Pole" are:

  • High Physical Security
  • Fully weather protected for long term noise measurement
  • Simple installation and maintenance
  • Intelligent noise measurement and monitoring

The Cirrus Research CR:243/1 is a Noise Monitoring Terminal designed for permanent installation, either ona fixed mast assembly (as shown) or onto a building. The instrument has been designed to measure, identify and store environmental noise levels and at the same time, to detect and store discrete noise events.
Normally, the CR:243/1 is used with an MK:426A Outdoor Microphone unit, which provides the acoustic signals to the main instrument, and which allows fully automatic calibration using an electrostatic actuator system.
When required, the measured data can be downloaded to a remote PC.
The system allows dial up telephone lines to be used for communications, and means that the noise monitor need only be contacted when data is required, typically once a day.
The noise monitor can also support weather sensors and a range of further options which allow the CR:243/1 to be used in wide range of measurement applications.
